Theodore Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary medical facility in Theodore, Alabama which is located in the Greater Mobile area. We are committed to providing outstanding veterinary care, promoting responsible pet ownership and educating our clients in the area of preventative health care.

  • Dr. Carl D Myers

    Veterinarian/Owner
    Dr. Carl Myers was born in Mobile, Alabama and is a graduate of Fairhope High School (1987).  He received his Bachelor of Science degree from  Auburn University in 1992 and was awarded a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree in 1995.  His senior year, he was honored with  Auburn's coveted award for Outstanding Surgery Student.   Dr. Myers has extensive experience in internal medicine, surgery, and dermatology and especially enjoys taking on the impossible-to-solve cases.    
     
    From its grand-opening in 2001 until late 2008, his cherished dog, Duke was a fixture of the practice and official greeter.   After a long healthy life blessed with love, Duke passed away in 2008.  Buddy, a Springer Spaniel, is wide open and goes almost every where Dr. Myers goes.  He even has a place in the doctor's office that he enjoys getting attention from anyone willing.

    Dr. Myers took ownership of Theodore Veterinary Hospital in December of 2001 and is a member of numerous veterinary organizations.

    In his spare time, Dr. Myers enjoys shooting sporting clays in tournaments nationwide, fishing, scuba diving and watching Auburn football.

  • Darwin Myers

    Darwin Myers

    Hospital Administrator
    Darwin Myers took leave of his 15-year career as an environmental health and safety engineer to join his brother, Dr. Carl Myers, in 2004 as Hospital Administrator.  The hospital has been fortunate for the opportunity to utilize Darwin's technical expertise which ensures the smoothness of day-to-day operations and he has been an  invaluable benefit to the clinic.

    Darwin and his wife, Leah, have four children, Kaleigh, Karissa, Destin, and Jack.  They have two Chihuahua's, Sophie and Queso that is full of personality!!!


  • Dr. Ian Gilson

    Veterinarian 
    Dr. Gilson is originally from Glasgow Kentucky. He attended the University of Kentucky where he played football for a year and pursued a degree in animal sciences.
    After graduating from the University of Kentucky,  he was accepted into Auburn's College of Veterinary Medicine. He Graduated with the Gentle Doctor Award.
    Dr. Gilson is married to Samantha Gilson and they have two beautiful children, Eva Kate and Ian Samuel. They also have 3 fur babies, Rosie May, Nova Ray and Binx. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and grilling.

  • Dr. Steven Petcher

    Veterinarian

    Dr. Steven Petcher was born in Lassa, Nigeria to missionary parents. From the age of two, he grew up in the south Alabama town of Chatom, AL. and from that early age, has always had a fascination and love for animals. He raised cattle, goats and horses as well as dogs and cats and was very active in 4-H.

     After high school he attended Auburn University and graduated from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine in 1983. Dr. Petcher built and opened Citronelle Veterinary Clinic where he practiced large and small animal medicine for 29 years.

     For the next 6 years, Dr. Petcher helped his brother Richard, get his business (Petcher Seeds) established. During these years, Dr. Petcher established Hungry 4 Him Ministries on his cattle farm in Fruitdale, AL. where events and ministry opportunities have been hosted for Boy Scouts, Big Brother-Big Sister, Cattle for Christ, Hungry 4 Him Church and many homeless men.

     During those years, Dr. Petcher continued working part time in veterinary clinics in Chatom, Citronelle and Fairhope, AL. and  the next four years, he worked full time in Saraland, AL as an associate. Dr. Petcher always hoped to once again have an opportunity to work with Dr. Carl Myers, after they worked together for a few years in Citronelle. 

     Dr. Petcher enjoys the relationship of animals and people and prefers to be loving on puppies and kittens and communicating with wonderful people. His favorite people are his grandchildren.

  • Dr. Roland Maertens

    Veterinarian
    Roland Maertens is a Mobile native.  He graduated from Auburn Veterinary School and has been practicing in the area for over a decade.  He is glad to join a renowned practice that can offer high end diagnostics and treatments.  Dr. Maertens enjoys all types of small animal cases with a preference for Ultrasound and diagnostic imaging.  He looks forward to building lifelong relationships with pets and owners.  Coming from an Emergency medicine background he looks forward to working more on preventative care and education with owners to improve the health of pets before they need an ER.  On his free time Dr. Maertens enjoys spending time camping, traveling, or going to the beach with his family.

  • Kaitlyn Kulakowski LVT, RCS

    Licensed Veterinary Technician,
    Registered Cardiac Sonographer 
    Kaitlyn has been in veterinary medicine since 2015. She obtained her LVT license in 2018. She has a love for radiology, and decided to go get her certification in cardiac ultrasound on the human side, and bring it back on the four legged side. She has been at Theodore Veterinary Hospital since 2017.
